Jicarilla

portrait of Vash Gon, Indian chief of the Jicarilla tribe, Apaches living in the southwestern United States. Inspiration from a period photo of Edward S. Curtis (1904) Representation of this Indian chief by playing on genres. A woman's face emerges from this man's face and, therefore, designates only one man anymore but encompasses Apache men and women. Using two complementary colors, red and green to create contrast. The face is treated in a fragmented way, as if, under this stone skin, there was the skinled flesh of the Apaches.
