I can't remember your name
I can't remember your name, I am still racking my brain, today. I remember where we met and what we had for dinner, You treated me to Thai. We talked and laughed about our lives and where we hoped to go from here. Eternity started for us at the tram station. You drove a posh car. I wore a cheap jacket. I liked your easy laugh and our snippets of conversation were not just about favourite positions. We were a normal couple in the early days of romance. You quizzed me about food then asked if you could order for me. Slightly drunk on food and smiles, We took a ride in the car, did some hand holding in the park. We talked some more and kissed under your huge autumn coat. No moon shone for us that night! Eventually I realised that the red jacket was not thick enough for October. We walked back to the car, rather swiftly. And I said I would walk home; it wasn't far at all. One last hug! No waving back, just one set of steps breaking the silence of the night. Eternity, sometimes, is a Thai meal and a stroll through the park.
