Hello, I'm Zachary Scheib.
I have been an avid doodler my whole life. Any blank space on a paper or test quickly became scroll worked in shapes and lines. Overtime certain motifs and styles came to dominate my doodles. While attending Ursinus College I learned that doodling actually has neurocognitive benefits. For some brains the act of doodling can significantly increase information comprehension and retention. In 2014 I graduated with a Bs in Psychology, having completed major coursework in Studio Art and Environmental Science. That same spring I was awarded the Berman Museum Prize for Excellence for my large scale kinetic sculpture "A Fractal Universe," which represented the interconnected nature and cosmic geometries of the amazing world around us. For several years I focused on fiber arts, paying particular attention to understanding the production and manufacturing of sustainable, natural textiles; commercially and by hand. In January 2021, after suffering a severe hand injury I directed my focus back to my doodle art. Currently I am working on Project Mindcube. As the name suggests the "end result" will be a 3-dimensional sculpture in the shape of a cube covered in the expression of my internal world through doodles. Just as some people express themselves through painting, composing music, or writing poetry, I pick up a pen and doodle. This project is a journal and a celebration of neurodiversity. Just as journeys have waypoints, the Mindcube Collection will feature milestones marking its progress. 36 Pieces, 6 Full Sides, and the final Cube. I work in black pen, and digitize my works in Affinity Design. I am excited about the interplay between the real world and the digital metaverse, and how the two can benefit each other. To match this process I mint NFTs to mirror the physical counterparts.
