Seized by the model's intense, incisive and even distrustful gaze, I wanted to give her the freedom to challenge our gaze. She confronts us with that very special intensity, turning her face at an almost defensive angle as we see her. My eye, attracted by this intensity, wanted to surround her with an attractive halo using the ‘sfumato’ technique.
