As Sally Rooney says, “One must meet the world with lightness, with love, but with lightness…” Although I’ve sketched many versions, the final form has finally taken shape on canvas. Sometimes the birds come and go, sometimes the feathers are clearer, sometimes more abstract. Just like the sentence that struck me, I am meeting the world with lightness. And that is exactly why — sometimes abstract, sometimes clear, with everything inside both dark and bright, just like me — this painting reflects my inner world. I can’t decide whether to put it up for sale in a gallery or simply keep it as a reminder, but here it is: the first member of the A GENTLE WELCOME series. Its name is “Sometimes”… To the feelings, the people, the lives that sometimes stay, sometimes just pass through.
