Friday Night Fun

This is a very intuitive, process-based and responsive ink painting. I had a lot of fun painting it one Friday night, when I was really in the zone. That night after my meal, I had this overwhelming urge to paint. I wasn't sure what I would paint, so I just started by painting a flower shape in pink, on the wet canvas (I do love to paint on a wet surface). Soon it was clear to me that a flower painting this was not going to be! It evolved into a very organic, free sort of an abstract. I love the amazing colours produced with ink! This did take me many, happily absorbed hours, until past midnight, during which time I responded to what was happening on the canvas. After seeing how it looked the next day, once it had dried, I left it for a bit and eventually went back and made some changes a couple times. To me, it looks kind of cosmic meets underwater life. What does it look like to you? This is part of my submission to the VAA Artist of the Year Award, which has made the long list, so far.
